Music Theory Session I Stephanie Lange July 20-24, 4-6pmExperience this high-level course designed to strengthen your sight-reading skills. Over the 5 days, we will work on melodic and rhythmic notation, key signatures, scales, triads, seventh chords, rhythmic and melodic dictation. Reading will be taught using solfege and moveable do. This course is geared towards highly motivated students who are interested in furthering their knowledge in sight- reading prior to working in any high-level music ensemble or theory class.

Brass Ensemble Session I Peter Lander July 13-17, 1-3pmBe a part of a week of intense brass training through the vehicle of brass chamber music. Get an opportunity to play a wide range of brass quintet and ensemble repertoire, in addition to receiving highly specialized technical and musical guidance from a professional music educator and trumpet performer. As part of this session, each student will also receive advice on how to build an individually crafted maintenance routine that will ensure the brass students’ steady progress in the areas of range, tone, articulation, flexibility, endurance, andmusical phrasing.

Rhythm! Finding the Groove Bob Novak Session I June 29-July 3, 10-12pmExplore rhythm through a fun and immersive class designed for instrumental and vocal musicians interested in strengthening their timing, rhythm, and groove. Through the medium of hand drumming and rhythmic exercises, participants will learn the art of playing and feeling syncopated beats, develop a better understanding of poly-rhythms, and finally, will perform music evolving from West African traditional drumming. No experience is needed for this class and all levels of musicians are encouraged to participate.
Advanced Musical Theater Colleen Daly July 27-31, 4-6pmExperience this high level course designed to build your performance techniques for Musical Theater. We will do individual work on two musical theater pieces with the goal of performing a short concert at the end of the week. Students will sing individually each day, developing vocal technique and strategies for fearless performance and auditioning. This course is geared toward advanced students in grades 6-12.
Make Your Own Short Film Kevin Eikenberg Session I June 8-12, 6:30-8:30pmThanks to digital cameras, film and video as a medium has become far more accessible. During this camp, students will learn the basics of the equipment as well as the basics of storytelling, composition, and post-production. By studying different styles of movies from animated films, music videos, and narrative films, students will then create films of their own. Whether they have a passion for photography, directing, editing, or acting, there is a role for them in production, and they will leave the camp having the tools to expand their craft on their own.
YouTube Video for Musicians 101 Kevin Eikenberg Session I June 1-5, 4-6pmYouTube has created an enormously powerful self-promotion tool for artists of all mediums, and it has never been easier or more cost effective to create them on your own. The ability to record and post your own videos is becoming more than just a hobby; it is a legitimate way to get yourself heard on a larger scale. You will learn the fundamentals of video production and editing including camera technique, DIY solutions for big budget results, and techniques for getting your video seen on YouTube. We will focus on the basics of audio techniques, including microphone placement and technique, how to get great sounds out of low budget equipment, and basic audio editing. Participants are encouraged to enter prepared with a piece or song they would like to record, however this is not mandatory. All will leave with a video of their piece, or a video that they have filmed and produced.
