Marissa Zechinato

Marissa Zechinato is a DMV-based singer-songwriter and teaching artist with experience in many genres including jazz, pop, and classical music.
Fascinated by the voice, she loves to introduce students to elements of vocal anatomy to help them produce reliable results. Marissa incorporates music theory and ear training in ways that are accessible and fun. She encourages her students use their voices in new ways and tailors her lessons to meet each student’s individual interests.
Marissa graduated from Howard University with a degree in Vocal Jazz Studies, and has performed at venues including the Apollo Theater, Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, and the White House, as well as NPR Tiny Desk as a member of Howard University’s premier jazz voice ensemble Afro Blue. She has shared the stage with artists including Kelly Clarkson, Marc Anthony, Chance the Rapper, Common, Esperanza Spalding, Patti Austin, Bruce Hornsby, Alison Krauss, Mavis Staples, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.
When she isn’t performing or teaching, Marissa loves writing new music out in nature and hanging with her cat and guinea pig.
